The Chief of Akwatia, Osabarima Kofi Boateng lll has been destooled by the Abrade Royal Family of Akwatia for dissipating family and stool property without accounting to his people.
He is also accused of gross disrespect towards his family and Akwatiaman.
Abusuapanin of the Abrade Royal family, Opanin Antwi Darkwa led the family members together with the Krontihene of Akwatia, Baffour Afisa and some members of Akwatia to perform the necessary rites signifying the destoolment of Osabarima Kofi Boateng lll as Akwatiahene.

Abusuapanin Opanin Antwi Darkwa led the slaughtering of a sheep at the shrine in front of the Palace and notified the gods that the family that presented Osabarima Kofi Boateng lll to serve Akwatia has destooled him, hence he shouldn't be recognised as Akwatiahene again.
The family went ahead to lock the Palace, signifying a takeover of the place.
They had a traditional procession in the Akwatia township amidst drumming, informing the citizens of Akwatia that the chief has been destooled.

Abusuapanin Antwi Darkwa told the media that the chief has over the period dishonoured their invitation to answer charges of embezzlement, sale of family and stool properties, among others.
He said the family petitioned the Akyem Wenchi chief who doubles as Oseawuohene or their Divisional chief to adjudicate the matter, but the Akwatiahene didn't honour the invitation by the Oseawuohene as well.
According to Opanin Antwi Darkwa, Akwatiahene has sold all their family properties and declined to account for same. He accused the Akwatiahene of impeding development of Akwatia by his actions.

Krontihene, Baffour Afisah also alleged that the Akwatiahene over the period has auctioned a number of quotas from St. Roses SHS' admission meant for indigenes of Akwatia to outsiders.
