Reports reaching The Al-Hajj newspaper indicate that former Vice President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama, is seething with anger over a harmless statement made by President John Dramani Mahama about the state of his health.
Alhaji Aliu Mahama’s anger according to the report follows numerous enquiries by sympathizers and well-wishers seeking to know his state of health after President John Mahama had appealed to Ghanaians to pray for the former’s fast recovery.
The Al-Hajj learn that it all happened when at the recent celebrations of the Eid-Ul-Adha festival at the Independence Square in Accra, President John Mahama appealed to the Muslim faithful to pray for the speedy recovery of the former Vice President, who, according to President Mahama, was on admission at a hospital.
“Let us say a prayer for former Vice President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama who is always with us here but today, cannot be with us because, my information is that he is sick and receiving treatment at the hospital”, the President had requested of the Muslim gathering last Friday.
The Daily Guide reports however that Alhaji Aliu Mahama, who had since Thursday, 25th October been in the northern regional capital of Tamale, and who though admitted he had been unwell for some time, nevertheless expressed disgust about the development and accused President Mahama of not having his (Aliu’s) well being at heart.
“Speaking to Joy FM after President Mahama’s unsolicited prayers for his recovery, Alhaji Mahama expressed opprobrium about the development, especially when the President never called or even sent message to him to wish him well,” The Daily Guide had reported.
However, The Al-Hajj’s investigations have confirmed that, indeed, the former vice-president, Alhaji Aliu Mahama was critically taken ill recently in Sunyani, the Brong Ahafo regional capital.
This paper’s investigations revealed that when information got to the attention of President John Mahama, about the condition of the former Vic President, he immediately ordered a medical ambulance to fly him down to Accra for specialist attention, which was duly carried-out.
Therefore when President John Mahama asked of the former Vice President, who regularly participated in the official national Islamic festival celebration at the Independence Square, he recalled the directive he had given for him to be attended to.
But The Daily Guide reports that the former vice president wasn’t enthused.
“Alhaji Mahama conceded that he went for a checkup and doctors advised him to take some few days’ rest, President Mahama never visited him or sent him a goodwill message; only for him to mount a podium to peddle falsehood to achieve a political point”. Daily Guide report Stated.
