TV3 Network Limited has condemned a section of the public that said Ama, the winner of “Ghana’s Most Beautiful” did not deserve the top prize.
According to TV3 the fact that she could not recite the national pledge did not mean she could not win.
Madam Janet Danquah, the Public Relations Officer of TV3, reacted to suggestions that Esi should have been the winner since Ama could not even recite the national pledge.
Explaining further, the PRO said Ama was leading constantly with a big difference between her and the other contestants.
“Ama was affable, poised, and had inner beauty, as she showed love, humility, smiles, and friendliness. That is why even the evictees and the public voted for her.”
The outcome of the competition depends hundred percent on voting, where the winning votes for the ninth and tenth week were put together to determine the winner.
The winning votes came from the public and not the judges nor TV3, she disclosed.
Esi, the first runner-up, she stated, stood out when her hair was shaven whilst Ama came first through out till the last day, even though she could not recite the pledge.
Esi’s shaven hair, according to Janet Danquah, could be interpreted in several ways by different people.
“It is not surprising that Esi could recite the national pledge to perfection in that she is a teacher whilst Ama is not”. The PRO therefore urged Ghanaians not to limit the whole nine and ten week programme to a day’s show, hinging their judgments on the national pledge.
She also revealed that “Ghana’s Most Beautiful” reality show would be maintained as an annual affair, with contestants emerging from the 10 regions of the country.
Madam Jane Danquah said winners would be presented with their prizes on Wednesday April 18.
It would be recalled that the “Ghana’s Most Beautiful” reality show which came to a climax last Sunday April 8 at TV3’s studio B, saw Ama emerging the winner of the competition, with Esi, Adjoa and Nana taking the second, third and fourth positions respectively.
However, in the final round of the competition, there was a quiz session where contestants were taken through questions from the judges.
Esi started this round and was asked to recite the national pledge, which she did with perfection.
Her answer about the redenomination of the cedi was a bit plaid, though the last two responses to KKD and Efo’s questions were rightly answered.
Ama, the winner, had the national pledge wrong. On the question of how to conserve electricity, she did extremely well.
Nana and Adjoa took home ¢20 and ¢30 million each respectively, whilst Esi walked away with ¢50 million and Ama, the winner, drove home a sleek 2007 Toyota Yariz and a cash of ¢20 million.
