AMA properties to be auctioned on November 7

Van Mart Auctioneers, which has been authorized to sell off properties belonging to some state institutions to defray judgment debts, says it will go ahead and auction properties belonging to the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA).

The AMA’s properties are set to be auctioned on November 7. This includes various bungalows, offices and the residence of the mayor.

JOY FM's Kwakye Afreh-Nuamah reports that  the the huge No. 4, Seventh Avenue residence of the Accra Mayor, Dr. Alfred Oko Vanderpuye, had four eviction notices signed by one Jacobus Vanderpuye of VanSmart Auctioneers, pasted on the main entrance of the house.

Checks further revealed that other bungalows of AMA officials across the street have similar eviction notices.

One resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity said he could not be borthered.

"it seems it is one of those things again. it wouldn't go far, because we have seen other previous notices before. We have seen about three different notices", he noted.

Officials of the Assembly are however, silent on how they were going to deal with the issue but explaining that the issue has legal ramifications.
