Joy News’ Kwakye Afreh Nuamah, who is currently monitoring activities at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters in Accra, said Mr. Amoateng has been going through some documentation processes for his release.
Earlier Monday, his son, Akwasi Amoateng was said to have visited the Nima Divisional Police Command to meet a police detective, who later accompanied him (son) to inspect his father’s property, used as a surety.

Mr. Amoateng was granted a Ghȼ200,000 bail with three sureties, one of which would have to be justified by an Accra Circuit Court last Friday after he was charged with possessing forged passport belonging to a woman.
Mr. Amoateng arrived in the country on Thursday, after serving a 10-year jail term in the US for illegal drug trafficking but was arrested by the Ghana Police at the Kotoka Airport for allegedly possessing a forged passport.
