Former Member of Parliament Eric Amoateng who touched down in Ghana a free man after spending a decade in a US prison for drug related offences is believed to be facing arrest.
He is being investigated for passport fraud, sources say.
He was escorted to the offices of the Narcotics Control Board (NACOB) for a debriefing session and is expected to be handed over to the police after he has been debriefed.
He was arrested on December 11, 2005 for illegal possession of 136 pounds of heroin in the United States. The street value of the drugs was about $6 million.
The MP was then sentenced to a 10-year jail term by a US court presided over by Judge David G. Tragger on December 12, 2007.
After serving his term the former Nkoranza North MP was released this week. He arrived in the country, Thursday but it appears his woes are not over yet.
After NACOB officials debrief him, he is expected to answer questions on the passport with which he entered the country.
A private legal practitioner Samson Lardy Anyenini early on told Joy News the man is now a free man and has no question to answer to officials of NACOB.
He added however that it is well within the mandate of the police to arrest and charge him for different offence, not the one for which he served a decade in prison.
