A former Managing Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) is asking National Democratic Congress (NDC) delegates to reject aspirants who are only seeking for various position to satisfy their personal needs.
According to Anthony Gyampoh, who headed the ECG under the erstwhile President John Mills' government, some persons aspiring for the vice chairmanship position do not have the party at heart.
"They are only doing so to satisfy their personal whims and caprices", the former District Chief Executive for Akuapem North under President John Rawlings' regime said.
Addressing NDC delegates at Anyinam during his campaign launch to become one of the six vice chairmanship contenders of the NDC Anthony Gyampoh stated that there are other competent persons vying for the same position but believes he has a rich experience to lead the party when voted.
"My fellow party men I believe you all know my track record and I need not speak too much to convince you to vote for me to become one of the vice chairmen the party needs currently. Gyampoh is a unifier. Over the years I have dedicated my everything to the running of the party so I am here before you to ask for your votes. As a former Regional Secretary of this great party I ensured that we fought to bring our party from opposition to power. I did not go to sleep as some did but have come pleading for you to vote for them. Please do the right thing to vote for me as one of the vice chairmen and you would never regret doing so", he appealed.
Present at the launch of the campaign was Kofi Adams, Deputy General Secretary of the NDC.
Also an aspiring National Organizer, Alhaji PMC, an aspiring Teasurer, Max Cobbina, a Vice Chairman aspirant among many other top officials of the party were present.
Eastern Regional Chairman of the party, Bismark Tawiah Boateng, extolled Anthony Gyampoh at the launch ceremony.
"He is a very hardworking person, humble, approachable and what have you. I can say for a fact that Mr.Gyampoh has been a strong pillar of the party in the region. He has supported as in diverse ways. Go to Kumasi and vote for him as one of the six vice chairmen. I wouldn't have contested him if he had decided to run for the regional chairmanship position when he decided not to run again for the regional secretary position because I know what he is capable of doing", he stated.
Kofi Adams also joined to chorus for an endorsement for Gyampoh, is currently a board member of the Minerals Commission.
"Gyampoh has risen through the ranks up to this level. I know him to be a true party man so voting for him to become one of our six vice chairmen is in the right direction. He is a man who believes in his own conviction and not that of any one individual. He will take decisions in the interest of the party when you vote for him", Mr.Adams explained.
