The National House of Chiefs has dismissed an appeal against the legitimacy of the late overload of Bimbilla, Naa Andani Dasana.
The Judicial Committee, at a sitting in Kumasi, invoked provisions of the Chieftaincy Act to uphold an earlier judgment given two years ago by the Northern Regional House of Chiefs.
By the ruling, the current regent will continue to act as Bimbila Naa until a successor from the Bangyili Gate is enskined, following last June’s murder of the substantive chief.
The late Paramount Chief of Nanum Traditional Area, Bimbilla Naa, Naa Dasana Dawuni Andani, was shot and killed, together with his younger brother, at his palace.
Two years ago, the Northern Regional House of Chief ruled against the Nakpan Dawuni Family on the matter. The family appealed the ruling at the national level, subsequently losing the appeal today.

Lawyer for the Andani Family, Alhassan Mohammed, says his clients will ensure a modest celebration as both sides belong to the same royal gate.
Counsel for the Napkan Na Dawuni was unavailable for comment but a member of the family says justice has not been served in the matter.
Kamil Deen describes the judgment as unfortunate, and warns of what he says could be unpleasant reaction from the defeated family.
