The Tepa Circuit Court has sentenced an 18-year-old motorbike mechanic apprentice to 12 months imprisonment in hard labour for threatening to kill his father.
Seidu Braimah pleaded guilty to threat of death and was sentenced on his own plea.
Police Chief Inspector Prosper Yao Aheto told the court presided over by Mr Emmanuel Amo-Yartey that both the convict and his father, Seidu Grumah, lived in the same house at Nyamebekyere near Tepa.
The court heard that early this month, Braimah assaulted his father and moved from the house.
Chief Inspector Aheto said because of the unruly behaviour of the convict, the landlord of Mr Grumah threatened to eject him from his house and also dismiss him as the caretaker of his cocoa farm.
He said Braimah’s father approached some elders to plead on his behalf to enable him stay in the house whilst maintaining his job as the caretaker of the cocoa farm.
He said on January, 4 whilst Mr Grumah and some arbitrators were in the house of his landlord to plead for an amicable settlement, the convict entered the house and threatened to butcher him to death for gossiping about him.
Chief Inspector Aheto said the father reported the incident to the police who arrested Braimah.
