Students of the Archbishop Porter Girls Senior High School are returning to the school after it was shut down briefly last week due to suspected food poisoning.
Panic stricken parents demanded to take their wards home after an outbreak of food poisoning compelled school authorities to rush about a hundred students to hospital.
Right on the knick of reporting time yesterday, Joy News’ Western Regional Correspondent Kweku Owusu Peprah was at the Schools’ premises and reported that conditions on campus were calm.
According to him, two students he sighted at the school’s dining hall said they did not go home although most of their colleagues decided to take the break announced by the school authorities.
The school’s headmistress Mrs Louiza Constance Aggrey said all dormitories on campus have been fumigated while plans are underway to change the water supply system at the school.
Medical tests have been conducted on the kitchen staff to ensure they do not transmit infectious diseases to the students.
Meanwhile, the re-opening comes ahead of an anticipated report of an investigation by health authorities into the outbreak.
Concerns were expressed that school authorities should await the said report before re-opening the school.
But the headmistress Mrs Aggrey says the concerns are baseless.
"There is nothing seriously wrong with the system," he said.
