The Architects Registration Council (ARC) of Ghana under the auspices of the Ministry of Water Resource Works and Housing and the National Board of Control for Building Design Technicians & Draughtsmen has announced an ongoing exercise to register and categorize Building Design Technicians, Technologists & Draughtsmen in the country.
A statement signed by the Registrar of the ARC, Arc. Stella N.D. Arthiabah, said the move aims at ensuring professionalism in the delivery of technical services within the built environment professions
She observed that in the light of challenges such as collapsing of buildings being faced in the built environment sector locally, it has become imperative on the Council to streamline and regulate the activities of these technical personnel.
Mrs. Arthiabah urged all Architectural Technologists, Building Design Technicians and Draughtsmen in the country to register with the National Board of Control for Building Design Technicians and Draughtsmen
“Those already registered are to update their data at the Board and also indicate their classification within the established categories as set out by the Board” she added
Mrs. Arthiabah informed that an introductory workshop on the licensing process will be held in Accra at the Teacher’s Hall this Thursday whiles a training workshop will be organized from June towards official licensing to practice within the confines of the Law in Ghana cautioning that from September 2017, it shall be an offence to practice in the country as a building technician, technologists or a draughtsman without a license.
