Armed robbers in the early hours of Sunday snatched a newly registered Toyota Corolla in an operation in the Demod area in North Kaneshie in Accra. The vehicle was used for a series of other robberies by the robbers took away their victims’ mobile phones, money and other valuables. The owner of the Toyota Corolla, who spoke to Joy News under anonymity, said he had parked his car to urinate when the robbers appeared from nowhere, wielding cutlasses and gave him a chase. “I was running away from them and then I fell into a gutter, I was scared because I don’t know what they would have done to me if they got closer to me, so I just threw the car keys to them and then they left with my car leaving the taxi (they were using) there,” he said. According to him, he took the taxi the robbers left behind and gave them a hot a chase but could not get them so he drove to the Kaneshie Police Station to lodge a formal complaint. Whilst there, a stream of people came to the station to report of robbery attacks on them and giving his car number as the vehicle used in robbing them.
