The Bureau of National Investigations(BNI), says former Minister of Information, Mr Stephen Asamoah Boateng is on its wanted list. The former minister, who is being investigated for allegedly awarding a contract under fraudulent circumstances to a company owned by his sister-in-law to the tune of about GH¢86,000, was last seen in public on Tuesday, August 04, 2009 during a demonstration in Accra.Joy News sources at the BNI say the bureau has since Friday been trying to reach him but all efforts have yielded no results.Mr Asamoah Boateng was on August 3 prevented from travelling abroad for the second time at the Kotoka International Airport by operatives of the BNI. He was first refused travelling on June 14.The former Information Minister sued the BNI for contempt after he was yanked out of a flight for the second time. That followed a circuit court clearance for his wife to travel. It is unclear whether the court's decision affected him, in which case he might have some grounds to cite the national investigative body for contempt.Mr. Asamoah-Boateng told the Daily Guide newspaper that he is not and has not been subjected of any investigation by the BNI, though he had earlier turned himself up at the Bureau where he was told that he had not been invited there. He claims neither the BNI nor the Police had charged him with any offence and prayed the court to restrain the BNI from abusing his freedom of movement and the interference in the court’s proceedings.Story by Isaac Essel/Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
