Ashanti Gold CEO Cudjoe Fianoo has stated that their African campaign which begins next month is not in danger as being speculated.
Reports making rounds in the local media indicates that the Obuasi-based club are in serious financial crisis.
Those reports continue to say that they have had their plans distracted by the lack of cash from their main financiers Anglogold Ashanti who are unwilling to commit funds to the club.
But Cudjoe Fianoo in an exclusive chat with Joy Sports noted that those comments are farfetched.
“It is not every Ghanaian that is interested in the mining industry, but the business world is aware that AngloGold Ashanti, the main financiers of our club are going through some changes,” said Fianoo
“Now, the mines is not operating so definitely if you were used to getting money in three days now it will take four to five days but that doesn’t meant that they are not willing to help.”
“When the match day is getting near definitely there will be some panicking but the situation is not that bad, they still recognise the club as their own and they are doing everything possible to ensure that we do well in Africa.
“What is happening is not having an effect on the players and technical team, for them they are still on their preparations for next month’s game.”
AshantiGold are due to host Algerian side MO Bejaia on 14 February in the first leg of the first qualifying round.
