An interim National Executive Association of Muslim Societies in Tertiary Institutions in Ghana (MUSTIG) has been inaugurated.

The inauguration took place at the association's second Strategic Conference held at Lakeside University College in Accra on Friday, November 12, 2021.

The interim National Executive Committee will administer the affairs of the Association until its first congress to elect members of the National Executive Committee.

The Association will serve as national and international voice for various Muslim societies, associations or communities at the various campuses of tertiary institutions.

It will also address issues involving its members, Muslims and the Islamic faith. It shall be non-sectarian, non-partisan and non-ethnic.

The interim National Executive positions include;  Prof Imoro Braimah from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology as President, Prof Mahmoud Mohammed Mahmoud at the University of Ghana as the Vice-President, and Dr. Yunus Dumbe at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) as the Secretary. 

The rest include, Dr. Mohammed Mujitaba Dawuda at University of Development Studies, Tamale as the Organizer, Dr. Halid Babamu Osman at the Kumasi Technical University as the Financial Secretary and Mr. Zakaria Tanko Musah, Esq at the Ghana Institute of Journalism as the Communication Officer.

The interim executives also include representative from National Imam Council, Imam Mustapha Iddrisu from the University of Professional Studies and Razeena Mohammed Siitah from the University of Professional Studies as Women Commissioner.

The interim National Executives was inaugurated by Dr. Hussein Iddris Ibrahim, senior lecturer at the Islamic University College.

Dr Ibrahim craves the indulgence of the new executive to listen to advice of members in order to diligently carry out their mandate.

Interim President, Prof Imoro Braimah promises the association will do its best in the interest of the Muslim Community.

Prof Braimah says the association will enhance, strengthen unity, collaborate and mentor its members in all aspects of Islamic activities.

He says, it will also provide spiritual, academic and moral/social guidance as well as mentorship to its members, especially its student members, to shape their Islamic identity and wellbeing among others.
