The African Union has appointed five heads of state to mediate in the Ivorian political crisis. The presidents, one from each of the five regions of the continent has one month to provide a solution which will be legally binding. The mediators are President Blaise Compaoré of Burkina Faso, Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz of Mauritania, Idriss Déby of Chad, Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete of Tanzania, and President Jacob Zuma of South Africa. Director of Communications at the Presidency, Koku Anyidoho tells Joy News the five mediators are expected to start work immediately. Meanwhile President Mills has begun bilateral talks with his colleague heads of state on the sidelines of the AU Summit which ends today. He has had discussions with the Ethiopian President, Girma Wolde-Giorgis. President Mills is expected to hold similar talks with President Thabo Mbeki of South Africa, Angolan leader, Edwardo dos Santos and the Alpha Conde of Guinea.
