Former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has donated an amount of GH₵410,000 to the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Ablekuma North, Nana Akua Owusu Afriyie, to support her in the upcoming election re-run in 19 polling stations.
The NPP candidate, despite the decision from the NEC to boycott the election re-run, has decided to contest the elections to secure her seat.
She has expressed her belief that she won the 2024 general elections and that she will win to prove to Ghanaians.
Dr. Bawumia's action is expected to boost the hopes of Ms. Afriyie and support her in her effort to retain the seat for the NPP.
Sources from Dr. Bawumia's office have confirmed the gesture.
According to them, as the immediate past flagbearer of the party, Dr. Bawumia deemed it a responsibility to support the activities of the party in every form, including the current elections in Ablekuma North.
