The Editor of the Daily Dispatch Newspaper has called for the scrapping of the Brand Ghana office.
According to Ben Ephson, the office has no clear guidelines in terms of its modus-operandi four clear months after being inaugurated.
The Office was charged with the responsibility of defining the country’s identity and to change attitudes and behavior.
Chief Executive of Brand Ghana Mr Mathias Akotia in an earlier interview with Joy News said conscious management of a country’s identity and its communication is needed to gain international recognition as well as to construct a favourable national image.
But Ben Ephson believes the office has failed woefully in that regard.
If anything, it is rather duplicating duties of other ministries, departments and agencies of the state.
He said the officers of the initiative do not actually know what they are about and singled out for criticism recent press release issued by the office of the Brand Ghana to the Black Stars.
Since its inception, Mr Ephson said nothing new has been done except to recycle old activities which in any case is being done by other institutions.
He has therefore called for the shutting down of the office.
When Joy News contacted the CEO of Brand Ghana, he declined comment saying a formal response will be issued later.
