MPs are cutting short their holiday today to return to Parliament for an emergency sitting Friday.
The sitting was forced by the Minority National Democratic Congress (NDC) legislators to demand an investigation into allegations that the Trades Ministry sold seats to expatriates who wanted access to President Akufo-Addo at the Expatriates Awards held last month.
The Presidency cleared the Trades Minister, Alan Kyerematen, and his deputy of any wrongdoing following public outcry over the matter in December.
The Minority MPs believe there was a wrongdoing and hope to invoke the Parliamentary processes to force a probe into the allegations.
Meanwhile, the two sides of the House are sharply divided on whether an investigation is necessary at all.
The Majority is challenging the NDC Minority to drag the government to the Commision for Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) or the Economic and Organised Crime Organisation (EOCO) if it has any evidence of corruption.
