Biometric registration officers at Agona Swedru in the Central region have been demonstrating against the arrest of two of their colleagues who were detained over stolen laptops.
The two were arrested by the police yesterday after EC officials detected the machines they had been using to register prospective voters had been stolen.
The registration officers this morning besieged the office of the EC director in Swedru demanding the release of their colleagues failing which they will boycott the exercise.
Meanwhile the police have intervened after a meeting with the protesters.
DSP Osei Shaibu is the Swedru district Police commander explained the police were just following procedure by inviting the suspects and questioning them.
He said the officers must just be calm and be responsible for the machines that have been put in their care.
The registration officers have also resolved to go back to work after meeting with the police.
One of the officers told Joy News they have resolved to continue working until Thursday.
He said if their colleagues are not released on Thursday "they will take their final decision".
He said they were surprised at the decision by the police to arrest their colleague and send them to court, insisting the two cannot be held responsible for the stolen items.
