The Black Queens suffered a second successive elimination from the African Women Championship after a 3-1 defeat to reigning Champions Equatorial Guinea in their last Group B game yesterday.
The Queens needed all three points to advance to the semi finals of the competition but that did not materialize.
This is the second successive time that the Queens have failed to the progress beyond the group stage of the African Women’s Championship but head Coach Anthony Edusei said the future is bright for his team.
He said the is “just one battle we have lost. We are going to reorganize for the next competition.”
But former Coach of the Queens, Emmanuel Afranie believes some of the players must call time on their careers.
He said many of the players had aged and that fresh blood need to be injected into the team.
Meanwhile, Cameroon beat Algeria 2-1 in the other group B game to advance to the last four of the competition.
They will battle hosts South Africa and Nigeria from group A in the semi-final stage of the Championship on Thursday.
