Ghana’s Ambassador to Egypt H.E Alhaji Said Sinare has revealed exclusively to JOY Sports plans are underway to ensure the Black Stars and traveling Ghanaian supporters are safe during the World cup play off second leg game between Ghana and Egypt next month in Cairo.
The Ghana Football Association( GFA) expressed concern at the security situation in the Egyptian capital, and urged world football's governing
body to find "a safe and secure venue" for the November 19 return leg.
But FIFA confirmed Cairo as the venue for the second leg match ,indicating the decision was based on guarantees received from the Government of Egypt and CAF's decision to allow Al Ahly to play their Champions League match in Cairo.
Ghana’s leading envoy in Egypt, Alhaji Sinare says his outfit has began the process of ensuring both players and supporters are safe for the November 19 encounter .
"We are beginning to have some kind of a series of meetings which will start tomorrow with the aim of getting the necessary guarantees that we will need from the Egyptian government to make sure our players and supporters are safe. We are going to do our best to make sure those guarantees are there,"he said .
Ambassador Sinare added that he is confident the game will be incident free, judging from the improved security situation in Cairo.
"The security situation in Cairo has kind of improved a little bit, not too much, but we still have to be cautious in what we do but, we will make sure we give the maximum security the black stars deserve and the Ghanaians supporters as well." he noted.
Egypt have earmarked the 30,000 capacity Air Defense Stadium in Cairo to host the second leg match against Ghana.
