Ghana's 2010 World Cup performance has been rewarded with an award by the West Africa Football Union - Wafu.The sub-region's maiden awards ceremony was held in Abidjan, Ivory Coast on Wednesday.A special plaque was presented to the Ghana delegation headed by FA President, Kwesi Nyantakyi for the country's sterling performance in South Africa.The Black Stars, one of Africa's six representatives at the World Cup finals kept the continent's hopes high as their performance almost earned an African nation a semi-final representation.Ghana were the only side from the continent to advance from the group stages and went on to reach the quarter-finals.The night's flagship award, the “Best of the Best” went to Ivorian, Didier Drogba who edged Ghana's Michael Essien, Sulley Muntari and Andre Ayew to the prize.The award was presented to the player from West Africa who performed exceptionally during the year under review and it was decided solely by the outcome through phone or SMS voting by the public.Source: Ghanafa.org
