The body of a man believed to be in his early 50s, washed ashore this morning at Agorve in Anloga in the Keta municipality of the Volta Region.

An eye witness, named only as Kofi, told Joy News' Volta Regional correspondent, Ivy Setordzie, that they discovered the body in the early hours of Thursday .

He said they were playing football at the beach when they spotted the body on the shore.

The six-feet-tall grey-haired man was wearing a black trouser and a black  lacoste T-shirt with the Ewe inscription 'Todea hede nyuie' which literally means 'Fare Thee Well Uncle.'

The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained.

Kofi said they decided to call the assembly man to help carry the body from the beach but they could not reach him.

All efforts to get the police to convey the body to the mortuary have also proven futile.
