The appointment of Yomi Akapo as Managing Director of First Atlantic Merchant Bank has been rejected by the Bank of Ghana.Joy Business has learnt the decision was taken last week.Sources say the decision was influenced by the current breach of the foreign exchange laws by the Access Bank, which Mr. Akapo was then the Managing Director of the bank.Joy Business has learnt the board of First Atlantic Bank have accepted the Bank of Ghana objection and withdrawn the request for his confirmation.Mr. Akapo was appointed as a member of the board of Directors of First Atlantic Merchant Bank earlier this year after new owners’ of the bank KADERI NOMINEES took over.Under the country’s banking laws Bank of Ghana must approve the appointment managing directors of banks.
