The Kasoa Police are looking for three suspects who allegedly murdered a two-year-old girl, Grace Amevu and later buried her on a disputed land at Ansabra, a village near Kasoa. An autopsy conducted on the baby girl by the police after it was exhumed two weeks after burial showed that, her ribs and skull had been violently disfigured, confirming the fact that, the poor innocent child was murdered. The 19-year old mother of the murdered girl, Cynthia Amevu, who is being charged for abetment of crime, is in police custody. The Chief of the town, Nii Sackey Armah, who was arrested in connection with the case, has been granted court bail and is expected to appear before the Swedru Court on the 261h of August 2009. "The mother of the girl and the chief were held for hindrance of inquest", DSP Arhin disclosed. Three suspects said to be on the run are Daniel Amevu, boyfriend of the mother of deceased, Cynthia Amevu, Jordan Kofi Tsere and one Adams Agbovi. Briefing newsmen on the case last Friday, the Divisional Crime Officer at the Kasoa District Police, DSP Mahama Arhin said, on the 8 of July 2009, Aminu Mohammed, a caretaker of a parcel of land belonging to Nii Noi Morton, CEO of Monon City Estates, discovered a body buried on the said land and later reported the matter to the Kasoa Police. Upon that report, DSP Arhin said, the police then proceeded to the scene to begin investigations. He said, the police arrested the mother and upon further interrogation, she mentioned the names of the suspects, who she said, assisted in the burial of the girl at the said site. They were later arrested, but they decided to abscond after they had been granted bail, which the chief stood surety for. The police officer also added that, for blowing their cover, the three suspects brutalized the caretaker of Nii Morton's land, and later caused an extensive damage to his KIA Pride saloon Car. According to the Crime Officer, the Chief of the village, Nii Sackey Armah was also picked up for questioning because Cynthia had alleged that, he (Chief) offered the land, which is under litigation, for the burial of the girl. He said, the police are treating the case as a murder case and urged the public to assist in tracking the three fugitives for justice to prevail. "We will do our utmost best to protect the informants," DSP Arhin assured. The case will be called at the Swedru Circuit Court on the 26 of August, 2009. The biological father of the murdered girl is said to be languishing in jail at the Winneba prisons. In another development, it is being speculated that, the Chief of Ansabra and the runaway suspects connived to murder and bury the baby on the said land in order to implicate Nii Noi Morton, Chief Executive of Morton City Estates. The land in question has been a subject of litigation between the Chief and Nii Noi Morton for sometime now and the circumstances leading to the murder and burial of girl on the land is what is giving more room for speculations in the area.
