The Member of Parliament for Mpraeso, Davis Ansah Opoku, has confirmed that Dr Bryan Acheampong, the former Minister for Food and Agriculture and current MP for Abetifi, is preparing to contest the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer position ahead of the 2028 general elections.
In an interview with Channel One TV, Mr Opoku revealed that while an official declaration is yet to be made, Dr Acheampong has firmly resolved to enter the race once the party formally opens nominations.
“I think that the committee is finalising its report, but I can confidently tell you that he is determined to contest and very soon the Ghanaian people would hear from him,” he stated.
Mr Opoku praised Dr Acheampong’s leadership credentials, describing him as a strategic thinker with the capacity to lead Ghana into a new era of development.
He noted that the Abetifi MP had consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to national progress and party unity.
“Bryan Acheampong possesses what it takes to move Ghana forward, and he’s got the ability to marshal resources in terms of the human capital needed to move Ghana forward. He’s got a clearer vision, which very soon we are planning to let Ghanaians know, most especially to the NPP delegates to consider him at the next polls,” he added.
