The Paramount Chief of Buipe in the Central Gonja District of the Savannah Region, Abdulai Jinapor II, has annulled the appointment of Ibrahim Musah Bure as leader of the Fulani community in Mande, a suburb of Buipe.
The annulment of Ibrahim Musah Bure’s appointment follows protests by a section of the youth in and around the Buipe area after his appointment by the Buipewura to head the Fulani community in Mande in December.
A petition was brought before the Buipewura to rescind his decision and appoint someone else for the position.

Following the protests, a committee was set up made up of members of the District Security Council (DISEC) and some youth leaders who presented their recommendations to the Buipewura earlier this month.
They had recommended that the enskinment of Ibrahim Musah Bure be reversed to ensure peace in the area.
"Based on the recommendations established by the committee to ensure peace in Buipe, I, Buipewura Jinapor II, wish to state unequivocally that the earlier appointment of Ibrahim Musah Bure as the Fulani leader is annulled," he said.

According to Buipewura Jinapor II, "a new Mande Chief, Abdullah Alhassan has since been enskinned to fully take charge of the whole Mande.
"The land is available at Mande to everybody who wants to buy and develop. And all lands that will be acquired should pass through Mandewura, Abdullah Alhassan," he added.
He noted that his decision to enskin a new leader for the Mande community was solely based on the recommendations brought before him by the seven-member committee he had established to investigate the protests.
“I wish to place on record that I did not edit or alter portions of the recommendations but wholeheartedly accepted the content", he said.

He lauded the efforts of the members of the District Security Council (DISEC) and the youth for putting up the recommendations that led to a successful roadmap for peace.
Meanwhile, the Buipewura has denied any wrong doings stating that, "I want to put on record that, no land, no land has been sold in bulk to the Fulani community in Buipe.”
The Paramount Chief also used the occasion to appeal to his subjects especially, chiefs and youth to exercise restraint in the face of unprovoked aggressions so as to give peace a chance.
