A businessman and transport operator has made history by single-handedly building a police station with a bungalow for the Asaam District Command, near Asante-Mampong.
Chief Executive officer of Yesu Dea Transport, Yaw Amponsah Marfo, has also given the command a brand new Nissan Navara pick-up vehicle and two motorbikes.
The Police Administration describes the gesture as unprecedented by an individual in the history of the Ghana Police Service.

Inspector General of Police, John Kudalor, lauded the donor at the official opening of the facilities on Monday.
He says the project has come at the right time, adding the presence of the police will help fight highway robbery and other forms of crime in the area.
“I’m delighted because the area has experienced some fatal robberies in recent past, thereby making the area robbery prone. It is very timely and at the appropriate time,” Mr Kudalor said.

Mr Kudalor is hopeful the new facility, which has already attracted applications for new district officers will boost the morale of personnel and impact positively on crime combat.
For chiefs and people of Asaam, they are least surprised at the generosity of a man who single-handedly constructed a community center and had streets and the town's road tarred.
Mr Marfo has also built a chapel each for the local Methodist and Pentecost Churches.

The philanthropist, also known as Agya Wiase, says the police station and multiple unit bungalows are in fulfillment of a promise he made at the request of Ashanti Regional Commander, COP Kofi Boakye.
He believes beyond the structures and logistics, police need public support in the execution of their mandate.
“Policing everywhere is a shared responsibility, and the police can only do their work when we all contribute by giving them the assistance they needed. I also appeal to everyone to be willing to give police all the information they require to fight crime so that the district will have peace for development,” Mr Marfo emphasized.
Meanwhile, COP Kofi Boakye has warned police will meet with force, any acts of lawlessness by individuals or groups who put lives of law-abiding citizens at risk.
