Some enumerators of the ongoing national census have expressed fears that they may not achieve their targets in the Western Region.
Similar concerns have been raised by enumerators in the Upper West Region.
They are therefore asking the census secretariat to extend the exercise which is expected to be concluded this weekend.
Joy FM’s Western Regional Correspondent, Kwaku Owusu-Peprah reported that shortage of materials has been rather frequent in the region.
Enumerators told him they have not had questionnaires for days.
In the Upper West Region, Correspondent Rafiq Salaam, said the shortage of materials has forced some of the enumerators to stay at home.
One of the frustrated enumerators who spoke to Rafiq Salaam under anonymity, said he was given only 27 questionnaires which is woefully inadequate.
Responding to the concerns of the enumerators, the Communications and Media Officer at the Ghana Statistical Service, Michael Adu Gyamfi, said materials were being carted to the various centres for distribution to enumerators.
He gave the assurance that by Wednesday materials will be made available to all enumerators who have run out.
Mr Adu Gyamfi assured the public that they will be covered even after the expiration of the exercise.
