The Central Regional Minister, Nana Ato Arthur, has launched a website www.centralregion.gov.gh, aimed at marketing the region’s potentials to accelerate its socio-economic development.
It will among others, provide information about the region’s rich cultural heritage and tourism potentials, and also serve as an important research tool for students and others seeking information about the region.
Nana Arthur gave the assurance that the website would provide “a wealth of information on the regional co-ordinating council, the 13 municipal/district assemblies and the 19 constituencies in the region”.
The Regional Minister said the facility would not be limited to giving information about the work of the regional co-ordinating council, but it would also be a resource for traditional authorities, religious bodies and anyone who would want to understand the region’s role in Ghana.
Nana Arthur said the launch of the website was another stride in fulfilling the overall objective of bringing government closer to the people.
He said the website would provide more comprehensive coverage of the region’s activities and also serve as another means of communicating with the rest of the country and the world at large.
Nana Arthur expressed gratitude to Coastal Network Consortium (CNC), based in Cape Coast, for making the region’s information highway drive possible and called for a regular update of information to the website to make it effective and interesting to all browsers.
Mr Kwame Boohene, Chief Executive Officer of CNC, who introduced the website to the audience, said the website would project a good image of the region and will reach out to millions of potential investors worldwide, quickly and inexpensively.
He said some of the benefits to be derived by the region from the website are leverage advertising of the region, quick updating of information on the region, making business information available and receiving feedback on issues from the citizens of the region.
