The Central Regional branch of the New Patriotic Party has appealed to Mr. Alan Kyerematen to rescind his decision to quit the party.
In a statement signed by the Regional Secretary of the Party, Mr. Kwamena Duncan, the branch described Mr. Kyerematen’s resignation as regrettable and unfortunate.
Joy News’ Benjamin Henaku reports that the branch said it was of the view that the former Trade and Industry Minister is an important personality in the NPP tradition.
It said Mr. Kyerematen is a major stakeholder in the NPP adding that the party’s project ought to be dear to him.
Mr. Duncan said the return of the defeated flag bearer aspirant will make the perceived personal pains and suffering in the party a non-issue.
The runner-up in the NPP flag bearer contest in December last year sent his resignation letter to chairman of the party on Thursday.
He cited intimidation of his supporters by some members of the party and said he could return to the party depending on the situation.
Now the Central Regional branch of the NPP is calling on him to reconsider his decision and return to the party for the greater good of all.
It also called on all supporters of the party to remain calm and exercise maximum restraint in the face of the unfortunate incident.
The branch reaffirmed its unflinching support to the flag bearer of the NPP Nana Akufo-Addo in his effort at winning the December polls.
