The Ghana Chamber of Mines says it is in talks with the Military High Command over the proposed withdrawal of military personnel from mining concessions.
The Military had written to mining firms announcing its plan to withdraw officers from the concessions.
The officers were stationed at the concessions to fight illegal mining activities but the announcement of an imminent withdrawal provoked fear and panic within the mining fraternity.
Stakeholders feared the withdrawal would lead to a rise in galamsey activities in the country.
But Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Chamber of Mines, Ahmed Nantogmah told Joy News they will begin talks with the military to rescind their decision.
According to him, the proposal to withdraw the military did not emanate from government, hoping the talks will yield fruits.
