The Paramount Chief of Buipe Traditional Area, Buipewura Abdulai Mahama Jinapor II has called on government to institute an independent inquiry into the gruesome murder of the Paramount Chief of Bimbilla (Overlord of Nanum Traditional Area), Naa Abdulai Dasana Andani and four others.
The Buipewura demanded that government arrest and prosecute the killers of the Chief to serve as deterrent to people in the region who had developed the habit of murdering prominent traditional rulers in the area.
The late Bimbila Naa Dasana Andani was assassinated in his palace on June 19, 2014 by some unknown gunmen shortly after evening Muslim prayer.
The killers of the chief were reportedly dressed in military and police uniforms.
Speaking in an interview with Joy News the Buipewura, Jinapor II bemoaned the breakdown of discipline, law and order especially among the youth leading to the murder of two prominent chiefs the Overlord of Dagbon, Ya-Na Yakubu Andani and the Overlord of the Nanumba Traditional Area Naa Dasana Andani.
“It is becoming dangerous for chiefs in the north because we don’t know after the killing of the Ya-Na and the Bimbila Chief who would be the next chief to be murdered. So government must take this matter up seriously and bring the perpetrators to book to stop the reccurrence of another murder”.
Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor II who was sworn in by the Tamale High Court as a member of the Northern Regional House of Chiefs on Thursday August 28, 2014, appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to show personal interest in the matter to resolve the matter.
