Togbe Mawufeame Fugah, Paramount Chief of the people from the Volta in Ashanti and Brong Ahafo has called on Chiefs to take bold decisions to initiate projects and programmes aimed at developing their areas of jurisdiction.
He said there was the need for them to effectively and positively organize the people not only to bring total development to their areas but also ensure peace and unity among the people in the community.
Togbe Fugah was speaking after the initiation and swearing in ceremony of Togbe Nyatephe Atikpo, the newly installed Ewe Chief for Agric-Nzema Kokode communities near Kumasi
He asked the new chief to be committed to the welfare of the people and ensure that their interests were protected.
He told him not to lord over the people but to encourage them to work hard to support their families and the development of the community.
Togbe Fugah advised him to cooperate and collaborate with other chiefs in the area to embark on meaningful income generating activities to enable the people to improve their living standards.
He urged the new chief to embark on educational programmes to educate the people on government policies and programmes.
He asked for God's blessings for the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and the Asantehemaa Afua Kobi Ampem and prayed that God granted them long life and prosperity as well as wisdom to lead Asanteman
He also asked for God's blessings for President Kufuor and former President Rawlings and wished all Ewes and the people of Ashanti and Brong a happy New Year.
Togbe Atikpo pledged to live up to expectation and facilitate the development the community.
