One of 4 Chinese firms that have expressed interest in the construction of the Western Railway Modernization project should be selected for work to begin by the end of the year.

The project involves the construction of railway lines from Takoradi to Kumasi with a branch line from Dunkwa to Awaso.

The Ghana Railway Development Authority has already engaged the services of a consultant – Tean Engineering – for the bidding and selection process.

Acting Chief Executive of the Railway Development Authority, Emmanuel Opoku who spoke to Joy Business said ‘this project is part of the $3 billion loan from China Development Bank…”

He noted that the project will take about three years to complete.
