Four persons have died from cholera outbreak at Kenyanko, a farming community in the Tarkwa Nsuaem municipality.
Hospital official say 68 people have so far been diagnosed and the situation is getting out of control.
District Director of Health Services, Dr Jack Gale confirmed the deaths to Joy News in an interview on Tuesday.
“We are now dealing with suspected cases of cholera. The first [case] died in the early hours of Sunday,” he noted.
He described the situation as alarming.
Dr. Gale said they have taken proactive measures to ensure the disease does not spread.
The disease appears to be nationwide with several deaths already recorded in Accra, Cape Coast and in the Northern Region.
