Members of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) are asking delegates to choose competence over personal loyalties, when the party goes to the polls to elect national executives on April 12, this year, in the Northern regional capital, Tamale.

 The party’s vetting committee today quizzed aspirants for the positions of national organizer, youth organizer, Nasara Coordinator and Women’s organizer to assess their suitability for various positions.

Among those vetted on Wednesday were Sammy Awuku, Charles Adu Gyamfi, Michael Kwabena Ampong, Gifty Oware and Emmanuel Attefuah-Danso, who are all vying for the Youth Organizer position.

Scores of party supporters were at the party’s headquarters to back their candidate of choice.

Joy News' Joseph Opoku Gakpo, who was at the NPP headquarters reports that party members are looking for leaders, who could lead the party to victory in the 2016 general elections as well as those, who could restructure the party and communicate well with the masses.

Meanwhile, at today’s vetting, aspirants seeking executive positions in the NPP have been providing proposals on how to re-energize the party for election 2016.

Some of the executive aspirants, who spoke to Joy News after their vetting, said they would land the NPP with a working youth wing secretariat that can help the party win the election come 2016.

Additionally, they indicated that workable plans have been provided to the party's vetting committee, which will help win a chunk of the over 57 % of all eligible voters under the age of 35, to the party in 2016.

The vetting process follows a successful filing of nomination forms and payment of nomination fees by the NPP executive aspirants.

Meanwhile, those aspiring for positions of Treasurer, General Secretary, Vice Chairman and Chairman will be vetted on Thursday, February 13, 2014.

The outcome of the entire vetting process will determine the number of contestants for the 10 positions being sought.

National Chairman Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, Paul Afoko, Stephen Ntim and Fred Oware are expected to be vetted on the second day.
