The President John Mills has cautioned all Christians to be conscious of this year’s Easter celebration to avoid any form of accidents and untimely deaths.
He has therefore called for a celebration in moderation, wishing all Christians both home and abroad a success during the celebration.
In an interview with Radio Gold Thursday, the President said many people take advantage of the celebration to do wrong things which go contrary to the purpose of the celebration.
He highlighted drink-driving as one of the major causes of accidents during such occasions.
He therefore advised people to be wary of their movements during the celebration.
Easter is a holiday that marks the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and the renewal of the Christian faith.
It is a blessed time for the faithful to celebrate the rebirth of the Savior.
Celebrated between March 22 and April 25, Easter is the most important festival in the Christian calendar and its date is selected depending on how Lunar calendar corresponds to the Gregorian calendar every year, the holidays.net report says.
Since the date of Easter changes each year, other Lenten festivals that fix their dates according to Easter, such as Ash Wednesday, Palm Sunday and Good Friday also changes.
In Ghana and some parts of the world, the Easter Sunday celebration is fixed on April 8, while others are expected to celebrate theirs on April 15, 2012.
