Members of the Central Assemblies of God Church at Agona Swedru have undertaken a six day fasting and prayers for God's guardians and protection for the leaders of the nation and the new year.
They also prayed for a peaceful free and fair election next year towards a deepening democratic dispensation of the country.
Reverend Charles Arkoh-Nunoo, Head Pastor of the Church who led them in prayers, said Christians must pray hard for the protection of the nation as it prepares to enter the New Year, which is also an election year.
He thanked God for ensuring peaceful congresses of all the big political parties and urged Ghanaians to adopt an effective strategy to ensure a peaceful election.
Rev Arkoh-Nunoo, who is also the former Central Regional Superintendent of Assemblies of God Church, urged supporters of all the political parties to endeavour to conduct clean and decent campaign devoid of insults and acrimony.
He called on the State institutions especially the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) to organize workshops for all the supporters of all the political parties to promote a violence-free election.
Rev Arkoh-Nunoo urged all international and local donors to sponsor regularly such seminars and workshops to educate the people to ensure free and fair elections to enable the nation continue its macro-economic programmes.Source: GNA
