The Police CID’s decision to conduct parallel investigations into allegations of corruption against Charles Bissue, continues to court criticisms.
The latest of these, comes from Abdul Malik Kweku Baako, the mentor of the one who accused Bissue of using his position as secretary to the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (ICIM), to break the law and grant a license for small scale mining while a ban was in force.
Speaking on Newsfile on JoyNews Saturday, Baako described the CID’s investigation parallel to that of the Special Prosecutor as “a sheer waste of time and space.”
The CID’s final report hit the media this week where the police concluded that Charles Bissue wasn’t found culpable of any misconduct.
But Kweku Baako who is Editor-In-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper said, the police investigators were not equipped to declare Bissue culpable or not culpable.
Bissue was caught on tape receiving monies
Why, because they were not submitted with evidence from the camp of the undercover journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, who together with his Tiger Eye P.I team leveled the accusations against Bissue.
Anas and his team had stated that they filed their complaint against Bissue with the Office of Special Prosecutor and submitted all evidence including raw and unedited footages of their transaction with Bissue to the office.
Baako also stated that the undercover investigator had declined a police invitation to cooperate with their investigations on grounds that the matter was already being investigated by the OSP.
A further investigation by the CID – without any evidence – and subsequently concluding that the accused is not culpable is wasteful, Baako noted.
