The Coalition of Copyright Owners is demanding the removal of the copyright administrator, Bernard Bosompra, from office, else, they will take to the streets in a demonstration. President of the coalition, Gyedu Blay Ambuley, wants government to fire the copyright administrator because, according to him, Mr Bosumpra is inefficient. The group also wants the withdrawal of the Copyright Regulations Bill currently in Parliament. “The Copyright Administrator has done so much wrong to us and as you see musicians are hungry and in poverty, he’s [a contributor],” he said. But Copyright Administrator Bernard Bosompra says the coalition’s demands for his removal from office and the withdrawal of the copyright bill are unjustified. According to him, the Justice Minister Betty Mould-Iddrisu had earlier requested the coalition and other groups to present her with their concerns for amicable solution. Although, he does not know what the response of the coalition had been, he says he is an employee of the estate and not the coalition and cannot be bothered. Trouble has been brewing for years in the country as artistes continually disagree with the musicians union, arguing their interests are not being served. Source: Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
