There are numerous benefits associated with a well-motivated, remunerated and rewarded workforce.
This is the agenda and has remained the focus of the Board of Directors and Management of Coconut Grove Beach Resort in Elmina. This is also reflected in the rewards scheme they have been running for the last 30 years of their operations as a hotel.
This was also evident on 26th January 2024, when the hotel held its Annual Staff Dinner and Awards event. This event provides an opportunity for all the employees of the hotel as well as the guests of the employees, to wine and dine, at the end of which awards are presented to the most deserving employees.
After a meticulous process of screening and selecting the best employee of the year, James Afful, a gardener assigned to the Grounds Department, came third and won GHc1, 500.00 cash, a citation and dinner for 2 persons.
Roland Oti, a laundry steward assigned to the Housekeeping Department, came second and won GHc2,000.00 cash, a citation and a 2-night full board stay for 2 persons at a plush 4-star hotel.

Michael J. Bataah, a grill cook assigned to the Food & Beverage Department, won the worker of the year 2023 and was awarded GHc3,000.00 cash, a citation and a 2-night stay full board at a plush 4-star hotel.
20 other employees won cash sums of GHc500.00 each. After a fun raffle draw, 5 lucky winners took home 5 gift hampers.
Michael Mensah, Food and Beverages Supervisor, won a GHc500.00 Melcom Gift Voucher sponsored by GT Bank, Cape Coast branch.
Also, a heartwarming sendoff was held for John Arhin, an employee who has served the company for 20 years. He was appreciated very well with an undisclosed sum of money and a citation for his outstanding service to the company.

Addressing the Directors, Staff and guests, the General Manager of the hotel, Mr Victor Opoku Minta, lauded the initiative of rewarding employees to express Management’s appreciation for their hard work and dedication.
“This dedication and loyalty is evident in the fact that some of our employees have been working with us for 30 years, which is laudable”.
As we celebrate our 30th Anniversary in December 2024, we are poised to continue to offer our distinguished clients the best of memories worth repeating.”
He also thanked all the clients who have patronized their facilities and services and stated that “we won’t be in business without you so we are truly grateful for your loyalty for over 30 years”.
Mr Minta thanked Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom and Mrs Yvonne Nduom, Global President of Groupe Nduom and Board Chairperson of Coconut Grove Hotels respectively, for taking time out of their busy schedule to join the event as well as for the numerous investments they have made in the Hospitality industry amongst others, which has brought immense benefits to the local economy and the populace.
