A committee of eminent persons is to be established by the Volta Region Security Council to thoroughly investigate and unearth the real underlining causes of the violent clashes in Hohoe that claimed two lives.
The disturbance broke out between members of the Zongo community and persons loyal to the chief of Gbi, Togbe Gabusu following the exhumation of the body of the Chief Imam for Hohoe, Alhassan Saani who was buried Sunday.
The National Chief Imam Sheik Nuhu Shaributu met leaders of the feuding communities yesterday and took part in a crunch meeting of the security council where the decision to set up the committee was taken.
The spokesperson for the National Chief Imam, Chief Issah told Joy News the Chief Imam deeply regretted the disturbances at Hohoe and hoped the committee would make recommendations that would restore peace and harmony between the two communities.
Meanwhile, the paramount chief of the Asogli traditional area and President of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs, Togbe Afede is set to facilitate dialogue amongst the feuding communities beginning with a meeting of Volta Regional Chiefs tomorrow.
