Some 50 communities along the badly damaged 23km Gladisco Junction-Agave Agbeve feeder road linking Sogakope in the South Tongu district are venting their anger and frustration on the District Chief Executive over the poor state of the road.
They expressed their anger against Ms Cate Aglah, the DCE, at the weekend when some 30 cars plying the road got stuck midway, rendering it impassable by other users including a group of mourners who were on their way to a funeral in a nearby village.
Ms Aglah who also attended the funeral was later jeered and booed by the mourners who believed that the government must be held responsible for the bad nature of the road.
Ms Aglah is also the New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary candidate for the area and a native of one of the communities.
She told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the road had been awarded to a company called ‘Kwaffet Constructions’ since last year, but she had lost contact with the contractor.
Mr Ben Nuworkpor, a local resident told the GNA that it had always been a nightmare to travel on the road which also leads to some market centres.
Mr Alfred Teye-Nubour, a mourner from Accra, told the GNA that “it was hell” traveling on that road.Source: GNA
