Stakeholders in the Ghana Division One League are divided over whether or not this weekend's division one league matches should come on as scheduled.
According to reports on Footy-Ghana, the kickoff for this year’s Division One League has been rescheduled for Wednesday November 20 2013.
The report, which was confirmed by Administrative Manager of Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), Mr. Christopher Opoku, suggests that the decision to re-schedule the kick off date is due to some delays in completing the inspection of playing fields for the competition.
"Most of the pitches are not yet ready for this weekend's games. We delayed in the announcement because most clubs too have not paid their officiating fee to the association," Mr. Opoku said.
However, the Board Chairman of Ghana Division One League, Mr. Ntow Fianko has rejected reports that this weekend's matches have been postponed.
"I am not aware of any postponement. As far as I am concerned, the divison one league matches are coming off this the weekend. I am telling you in the capacity of the chairman of division league that the teams are playing this weekend. Whoever is saying the matches will be postponed should come out and tell all Ghanaians," Mr. Fianko told Asempa FM Sports.
Mr Fianko further confirmed that the matches will officially take place from Saturday, 9th November 2013.
