Mr. Emmanuel Papa Assan, Western Regional Youth Coordinator of the National Youth Council (NYC), has called for a consistent programme to eliminate barriers to young people’s educational opportunities in the country.
He said training and educational opportunities, including scholarship schemes must be made available to more youth to prevent them from engaging in negative activities.
Mr. Assan made the call at a day’s forum for youth groups within the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis, in Sekondi on Thursday.
The forum that was on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) was aimed at educating the youth on the MDGs.
He expressed dissatisfaction that most youth were saddled with problems and called for a comprehensive career development plan to enable young people acquire skills and knowledge needed for national development.
Mr. Assan said the youth must be motivated and inspired to develop their talents to enable them to assume leadership roles in the future.
Mr. Kweku Aggrey of Western Regional Peace Advisory Council, advised the youth who were not registered as voters not to attempt to cast ballot on December 7.
