The fate of yet another Glo Premier League game may be decided in the boardrooms of the FA Disciplinary Committee as centre referee Charles Dowuona abruptly ended the week seven game between BA Stars and New Edubiase at the Coronation Park yesterday.
Visiting New Edubiase took the lead in the 9th minute through Emmanuel Baffour but a disallowed equalizer by BA Stars striker Joseph Ham angered the supporters who poured onto the pitch to attack the referee.
The game witnessed several hold-ups before the eventual call off in the 85th minute.
Precious Semovor who watched the game for Joy Sports reported that supporters of BA Stars, dissatisfied with the decision of the referee to disallow the goal, pelted one of the assistant referees with all manner of missiles who sustained a deep cut on his head.
He said following the injury of assistant referee A.S. Zakari, many supporters poured into the field and there was free for all fighting.
Oduro Sarfo, management member of New Edubiase was allegedly beaten up at the Stadium.
He told Joy Sports his side must be awarded all three points.
Mr Sarfo claimed he was attacked on the instructions of an official of BA Stars when he tried to video-tape the happenings on the field.
At the Robert Mensah Stadium, Dwarfs and Hearts of Oak settled for a goalless but under pressure Hearts of Oak Coach Paa Kwesi Fabin says he is content with the performance of his team.
Liberty Professionals struggled to draw with visiting Berekum Arsenals who went ahead in the 60 minute through a Nana Poku strike.
The Dansoman lads warmed back into the game with Mawuli Tuglo’s penalty.
But Liberty Coach George Lamptey is not disappointed with his boys.
After the impressive away draw with Liberty Professionals, Berekum Arsenals Coach Johnson Smith said his team is now finding its rhythm.
At the El-Walk stadium, Tudu Mighty Jets also settled for a goalless draw with Kpando Heart of Lions. Mighty Jets are yet to lift themselves from the bottom three of the table but Coach Emmanuel Afranie said results will improve.
Lions had a goal by defender Kwaku Andoh disallowed late in the second half and Striker Gladson Awuku believes that demotivated them.
Asante Kotoko managed a 2-1 win over RTU at the Baba Yara in a game highly dominated by the visiting team.
Alex Asamoah put Kotoko in front in the 25th minute but that was equalized by Hassan Mohammed before Daniel Nii Adjei got the winner in the 92nd minute in injury time.
Elsewhere, a lone goal from Nathaniel Asamoah ensured that Wa All Stars beat King Faisal 1-0 at the Wa Stadium.
At Len Clay Ashgold and leaders Kessben played out a barren game.
