Fourteen out of 15 chiefs in the new Akyemmansa District at the weekend voted for the capital to be sited at Akyem Ofoase.
This followed a meeting held at Akyem Ofoase at the invitation of Mr David Oppon- Kusi, Member of Parliament for Ofoase/Ayirebi, to discuss where the capital should be sited.
The chiefs used the opportunity to thank the President for the honour done them and later signed a resolution to that effect.
The chiefs said the resolution had finally put to rest the contest as to where the capital should be sited.
Nana Owusu Gyamadua 11, Akyem Anyinasehene who acted as the spokesman for the other chiefs, urged the Minister of Local Government, Environment and Rural Development to lay the Legislative Instrument before Parliament to allow for the accelerated development of the district.
The Abenase, Adwobue, Etwereso, Adubiase, Odumase, Ofoase, Anyinase, Brenase, Kotokuom, Chia, Adwafo, Akokoaso, Asuboa North and Botodiase chiefs attended the meeting that was held in a cordial atmosphere and gave indication that they were united for the sake of development.
