An 18-year -old factory hand, Kwabena Abubakar who defiled a 13- year- old girl at the Kokomba market in Accra was on Friday sentenced to seven years imprisonment by an Accra Circuit Court.
Abubakar pleaded guilty to defilement and the court presided over by Mr Ebenezer Osei-Darko convicted him accordingly.
Prosecuting Detective Inspector Kofi Atimbire said the victim was a pupil residing at Fadama in Accra with her father, Abubakar.
On January 20, the victim went to a nearby public bath house to take her bath and covered her body with a piece of cloth.
Chief Inspector Atimbire said while returning, Abubakar lured her into his room and defiled her.
Prosecution said the victim’s father who was looking for her daughter saw her coming from Abubakar’s room and when he interrogated her, she narrated her ordeal.
The victim’s father then alerted the Police and Abubakar was arrested and escorted to Old Fadama Police where the case was referred to the Domestic Violence and Victim’s Support Unit of the Ghana Police Service in Accra.
The victim was issued a medical to be examined.
